Encountering Divine Healing Through Ecumenical Dialogue and Pentecostal Ministry
Divine healing stands as a vital pillar of Pentecostal theology and spirituality, rooted in Scripture and embracing the wholeness of human existence: body, soul, and spirit. This public lecture revisits biblical healing narratives and Pentecostal experiences to reconstruct a robust theological foundation for contemporary healing ministry. Tracing its evolution through church history, the lecture explores how healing has manifested God's active presence, including the pivotal roles of women, the sacredness of liturgical spaces, and the integration of faith with restorative practice. In light of today’s complex challenges, it reimagines healing as a transformative force, not only for individuals, but for communities, creation, and the unity of the Church, underscoring its role in God’s holistic mission to heal the world.
Objectives
This public lecture seeks to deepen theological and biblical understanding of divine healing within the framework of Pentecostal spirituality. By engaging with scriptural narratives and principles of healing, participants are invited to view healing as an essential dimension of salvation and a visible sign of the inaugurated Kingdom of God. The lecture also enriches the Church’s historical and practical reflection on healing ministry by revisiting revival movements, the contributions of women, the significance of liturgical spaces, and the role of faith formation. In doing so, it encourages the integration of healing into the life of the congregation and pastoral care in contextually relevant ways. Furthermore, the lecture calls for openness to ecumenical dialogue and critical engagement with global crises: spiritual, social, and ecological, positioning divine healing as a transformative vocation for individuals, communities, and creation itself.
